Going off to college

 Sri:

As the little birdie gets ready to fly out of the nest, I wonder what the future holds for us… for her and for me…

I know she will come by for breaks, holidays, occasions, but where is her journey going to take her?

Is she coming back home after these four years, or is this the new beginning and a voyage that doesn’t end?

Will I remember to buy fewer pounds of vegetables and fruits? Cook smaller quantities of food?

Am I ready to cope? My memory takes me back to the time when I was ready to fly out. Full of excitement, curiosity, and hope. It’s now her turn.

This is the countdown week, and I want to hug her tight.

I keep asking myself, is she ready? The truth is, there is only one way to find out.

One thing is for sure; the learning never stops.

People say, ‘wow, she’s grown’, but today, I learn, it’s not just her, but oh my god, I’ve grown.

 

Thank you, God and thank you, Girl, for these 18 years.

Sri Jayanthi Nirnayam

 1) Only the solar month is taken into account.

     So it must be in simha (AvaNi) mAsam, which

     is mid-August to mid-September.

  

  2) The target date in this month is kRshna-ashTamI

     (8th day of the waning phase of the moon) in conjunction

     with rOhiNI. However, on that day, not even a tiny bit

     of saptamI should exist post-sunrise, nor should there

     be any kRttikA nakshatram.

  3) If there is no pure ashTamI-rOhiNI conjunction as

     described in (2), navamI-rOhiNi is the next preferred

     conjunction, with once again a pure rOhiNi mandatory.

  4) If (3) is not possible, mRgaSIrsha nakshatra combined

     with navamI or daSamI is the next preferred choice.

  5) If this observance of SrI jayantI does not fall on

     ashTamI, the ashTamI is treated as any other day and

     requires no special observance

5. பிராட்டிக்கு மாரீசமாயா ம்ருகக் காட்சி போலே இவர்களுக்கு "பாவியேனைப் பல நீ காட்டிப் படுப்பாயோ" என்னும் படியான விஷயங்களின் காட்சி.

6. பிராட்டிக்குத் திருவடி நேர்ப்பட்டாப்போலே இவர்களுக்கு ஆசார்யன் நேர்படுவது.

7. பிராட்டிக்குத் திருவடி சொன்ன ஶ்ரீ ராமகுணங்கள் போலே இவர்களுக்கு ஆசார்யன் உபதேஶிக்கும் பகவத்விஷயாதிகள்.

8. பிராட்டிக்குத் திருவடி அடையாளங்கள் கூறித் திருவாழிமோதிரம் கொடுத்தது போலே இவர்களுக்கும் குருபரம்பரா பூர்வகமான திருமந்த்ர உபதேஶம்.

9. பிராட்டி திருவடிக்குச் சூடாமணி கொடுத்தாப்போலே இவர்கள் ஆசார்யன் விஷயத்தில் "தலையல்லால் கைம்மாறிலேனே" என்றிருக்குமிருப்பு.

10. பிராட்டிக்கு ஶ்ரீ விபீஷணாழ்வானது திருமகளாருடைய (த்ரிஜடா) ஸஹவாஸமும் பேச்சும் தாரகமாயிருந்தது போலே இவர்களுக்கு பாகவத ஸஹவாஸமும் அவர்களுடைய திவ்ய ஸூக்திகளுமே தாரகமாயிருக்கும்.

Tyranny is not Tolerated

As we all manage life post pandemic, dealing with hybrid work places and schools, it occurred to me today that employers are flexible more so today than the pre pandemic world. In Technology, working extremely long hours was just considered the norm. There is unspoken pressure to deliver. This is a form of tyranny, no doubt. Now, more so than ever, companies are talking about mental well being. How nice of them, was my original thought. Then, it dawned on me that, in the history of mankind, while tyranny is not uncommon, it has always come to an end. Rulers, governments, landlords - no one is an exception, it is only a matter of time, some times it is years and in a few other cases, it is decades or even centuries. Ultimately, compassion for fellow humans wins.

Tyranny is not tolerated.
